Costa Rica 7 On the road again...

Our ultimate destination after leaving the cloud forest was the little village of Puerto Viejo on the southern tip of CR on the Caribbean side. Took a few hours with lots of beautiful scenery, busy roads, through the industrial port of Limon then south along the beach.

Rows of Coffee crops line the mountain sides

There were acres of black tarp forming a kind of green house for plants-probably seedlings growing underneath.

A nice home in the quaint town of Turrialba with quite a bit of history, no time to stop as we had lots of ground to cover on this 'scenic road' on the way to the main highway...

Lots of piles of sticks from the coffee plants. They use them to cook chicken with.

Just cruising through another little town...

And another typical home outside of town.

Miles of banana groves along the highway. They cover the stalk of bananas with blue plastic bags to protect them. I read there is a lot of controversy about the bags as they do not decompose and cause lots of harm to the sea life. The banana industry is huge and making efforts to improve. We found the country is very environmentally consensus.

Lots of bicycles on the road with the second person riding, hanging on the handle bars - maybe a 2 year old in diapers or a pretty hefty woman or a co-worker.

We glimsed the beautiful Caribbean coast on the drive south from Limon. Then just past the town of Puerto Viejo found Papitos, our home for the next two nights. The only place we stayed two nights. A welcome retreat. Mike's friend who owns the Dive Shop in town recommended this beautiful resort like setting, just steps from the beach with lots of wildlife outside your door.
