Stopped by Carara Biological Reserve on the road to Jaco. We walked through a portion of the park with trails of dark green forest and sudden bursts of sunlight through the trees.
An Iguana greeted us at the information booth...
I was fascinated by the leaf cutter ants...like an army (someone said it is the Costa Rica army:) they don't have one.... Look at them, carrying chunks of leaves a thousand times larger than the ant. There were huge trails of them marching to their ant hill. Hope you can zoom in and get the idea.

We saw this group of Scarlet Macaws! They are an endangered species of the parrot family. Beautiful with red, yellow and blue feathers. I know, these photos do not do them justice.
