Siena came for an overnighter

Randy had an overnight work commitment in San Diego yesterday.
Perfect opportunity to drop Siena off (2 minutes off the freeway) for us to enjoy a much needed grandchild break!
As you can tell by the wood deck, it wasn't pouring rain-just a hint of sprinkle. But, umbrella's are so much fun and soooo necessary for a 2 year old.
A must trip through the garden, over the bridge and checking out the fountain.
We had to dodge plenty of plant material with an umbrella in the '2 hands' it took to hold it up
Siena will be 2 years old on Feb. 6. We took the opportunity to go shopping for her gift and 'open' it. A Dora circus.

Still Cold

Not that kind of cold, the second round of antibiotics and stuffy head...Will it ever end!
I am feeling better this week tho, at least out, working and volunteering.
A week sick really puts you behind.

I gave a presentation to the Casa Board this morning (8 am) about the gardens and upcoming Garden Club Garden Tour on June 20. First opportunity for that and it was received really well with applause.

Tomorrow is my 1 year anniversary as a Head Gardener at the Casa! However, I have volunteered there for 5 years. I need to take photos and compare...next blog.

The staff and board are so appreciative and I am under the wire now to make the gardens WOW on June 20, HELP!

Someone find a cure for the common cold!

OK, I am up for donating a large amount of money for the cure to the common cold, right now! I couldn't talk for 3 days, and now, for two more days my head has felt like it is stuffed tight yet still draining! Come on, someone must be able to figure this out. It only involves chest, throat and sinuses. Mean time, I am missing my everyday busy life :(

Rose parade floats

We went with friends, Sheila and Barry to view the floats the day after the parade. It has been several years since I had seen them up close and TV does not do the floats justice! To see each flower, seed, bark etc. that has been placed is truly amazing. Next year Sheila and I plan to go help decorate them.
I took a ton of photos, here are some of my favorites.

Happy New Year

No photos, still enjoying the Christmas memories made with family.
Took down the Christmas decorations today. Doesn't take as long to put them away as it does to set up. The mantles look so bare...

I leave all the red candles out, gearing up for our 28th anniversary on Valentines Day.

Looking forward to a new year...
  • holding grandchildren every chance I get
  • accomplishing a few home improvement projects
  • making a beautiful Casa garden for the June tour of 700 people
  • continue to appreciate our beach home and the view
  • cherish friends
  • make new family memories
