DD, Gardenfest and bloomin' gloves

I was installed as the District Director for all Orange County Garden Clubs. Annie, current DD was happy to hand over the gavel, her hand pottered vase and a tiara. Fun.

My job will be bringing Garden Club information from the State level down to the District and feed it to Club presidents. There are 23 clubs and about 1300 members. It will involve attending State conventions and conducting 4 meetings a year. I have a great, enthusiastic board so should be fun.

Our garden club held it's annual Gardenfest. We had tons of plants for sale that we propagated.

This year the Gardenfest flea market included floral design competition among local florists. Artists from our local art association painted the designs. I enjoy watching them work.

Washing garden gloves to take back to Casa for my faithful Monday morning volunteers. My garden is blooming gloves!

Blog messed up

I don't know what happened but none of my photos would show up on the blog. So I have recreated them-again-not going from Picasa to Blogger but by saving photos on the Desktop then uploading to Blogger. So, scroll down to catch up on the last month. Launa

Cousins and a lizard named Fred

We had so much fun with Keith, Sherry and Dani and were so glad they could spend the last night of their vacation with us. They did Disneyland, Legoland, Sea World, the Beach and visited family.

We relaxed, laughed and told more stories. It was so great to reconnect with family. We all agreed it is important to make time to get together again.
Dani is intent on catching a lizard then trekked back down the canyon.
Back to the Pier for dinnerThe surf was up and we enjoyed watching the surfers

We had dinner outside at Fisherman's restaurant on the pier...this is what the pier looked like from our table. The lighting on the water was beautiful.
Fresh fish dinner overlooking the ocean. Can't get much better that that.
Back home for games, desert and more fun to the wee hours of the morning.

I showed some books my Mom had. Mom grew up in Opheim, MT and so did Sherry! The photo on the front of an Opheim anniversary booklet had a photo of the church Keith and Sherry were married in. The big book on the table is from Opheim's 75 anniversary. We found photos and historical records of her family and mine in that book. The tiny town is celebrating 100 years in 2011.

Dani caught a lizard just a few minutes before they left for the airport! It had a blue belly the same color as her sweatshirt. She named it Fred. We will keep an eye on him for her...

Montana Cousins Visit

Mike's cousin Keith along with wife Sherry and daughter Dani escaped the Montana snow for a fun spring break in So Cal. They came for the day along with Mike's brother Brian, Kristie and Tanner. We took them all to the Casa then walked to the end of the San Clemente Pier.

Sherry enjoyed the gardens at Casa

While Tanner explored the NASA exhibit, wearing an actual astrounauts glove.

Back home, Dani and Tanner are exploring the canyon.

Can you find Dani's face?

A BBQ and evening of fun with legos and sharing family stories

S and T overnite

I attended a Landscape Design Class at South Coast Botanical Gardens in Palos Verdes. About 1/2 hour from Randy's family. Perfect opportunity to meet up with Staci and bring Siena and Tegan back home with me so Randy and Staci could have an anniversary weekend to themselves. The children's area at the botanical gardens Next day we played in the herb garden. Blowing bubbles for the statuary children. Picking and eating carrots from my raised bed

And went to beautiful Pines Park.

The sand box captured their attention.
Tegan had fun rocking in Grandma's chair
