Chichen Itza

One of the sights to visit in the world is Chichen Itza. It is the site of the ruins of the Maya Civilization. My Fodor's Travel book gave me lots of information but I also read a book on the plane about the Daily Life in Maya Civilization. I spent two days - one visiting the site, the other reading on the plane- emersed in their culture. Truely amazing!

This was their observatory. They created a calendar over thousands of years by watching the stars from these windows! And documenting it all!

This is a typical Maya home.

Chichen Itza is a two hour drive from Cancun-buses also take you there.
We took the scenic drive back (5 hours). I'll tell you the whole story some time.
