6 inches of snow
The branches of the trees were beautiful. We are now thinking this predicted dusting of snow was going to be more that that!
Even the chain link fence had powder snow collecting. Very interesting.
Well, 6 inches of snow later, we are snowed in. Good thing we planned to be inside the cabin cooking turkey.

Starting to snow
Then it continued to snow!
And filled the crevices in the trees. It was a beautiful winter wonderland.

More photos from the wedding
Mike and I dressed up for the wedding of nephew Adam and Blair on Oct. 31, halloween. They met on halloween 3 years ago. The wedding was beautiful and they let us adorn costumes/masks etc. during the last hour of the party.

We arrived when Staci was in the parking lot feeding and changing Tegan. Here were are, Grandma and Grandpa helping dress the little cutie. 4 mos old.

It is wonderful to have all your children and grandchildren in one place at one time. However, family photos are challenging. Here is one with all 4 grandchildren, dressed in their finest.
Aubrey and Siena as flower girls in the wedding. Aubrey happened to see me taking a photo and offered a cute smile and wave.
Photo op for our family at Adam's wedding
Aubrey and Siena were flower girls. They took their time walking down the isle tossing petals out of their baskets. When they were standing with bridesmaids they were getting bored and started swinging the baskets up and down and on their heads...then Jenna (grooms sister) told them it was OK to sit down. They were so cute and perfect little flower girls :)
Our nephew Adam and his bride, Blair. Mike's sister, Pam's son.
Our kids having fun on the dance floor. Staci(with halloween teeth) Randy, Michelyn, Derek, Nicole and Mark.

Hugging a BIG Lodgepole
Our trip to the cabin in Big Bear also stimulates the adventure possibilities. We found a Discovery Center brochure left by family that recently visited the cabin. Decided to check out the Champion Lodgepole Pine. Just DRIVE the 5 mile road and HIKE the 1 mile trail (easy round trip). OK... Driving the road was the most difficult part of the trip! Dirt, Rocks, Ditches, Water, you name it. I think 2 mph was max. Truly an adventure.
The destination was a huge Lodgepole Pine tree. The Champion Lodgepole Pine tree is estimated to be 400 years old and is 110 feet tall! The stand of trees was discovered in 1963. They are not known to inhabit elevations below 8000 feet. This is 7500. I couldn't resist giving it a HUG!
This photo was taken on the walk to the Lodgepole Pine Tree.
Interesting what nature does with its own.
