My Garden today

The last couple of days have been really warm. The flowers know it is spring and they are popping! This photo does not do justice to the Cecile Bruner Rose I see outside the kitchen window. It needs its own ZIP code and I just let it do its thing on the bank. If you know the garden, the fountain is on the left and the lemon tree is in front on the right. There is Papyrus and geranium and a background of ficus trees. Every pink dot is a beautiful fragrant pink rose that florist used for boutonnieres. Too bad they don't bloom year around! It is spectacular in the spring tho.

Testing the macro-flower setting on my camera. I like the Mandevilla with the ocean view.

This geranium just likes to bloom! It never stops. It is in maximum bloom right now and a beautiful view from the family room and the deck looking towards the BBQ.

Casa Fountain

The long awaited fountain at the entrance of the Casa was finished. I coordinated the planting of the garden around it.
Garden club members, Mike and I worked all day planting and moving 5 cubic yards of compost!

Finished and looking awesome!

Another garden

This garden, in Rancho Santa Fe, not far from Loni's was beautiful too. Whimsical items added interest and made you smile. Large mature trees framed the property. There was a deluxe chicken coup, huge vineyard, vegetable garden and large grassy area where family weddings had taken place.

Garden Club field trips

Garden club field trips are really a special treat. This is Loni's garden that is featured in numerous magazines and books. We were able to tour and enjoy lunch in the unbelievable garden.

The 'pond' had a boat I was about to board and go fishing for the koi!

Here are shutters hanging on an outside wall in a small garden area with plant hangers and a 'basket' hanging between. Too cute. And we gave away our old white shutters!

GardenFest April 12

GardenFest is a major spring event for the SC Garden Club. Check out the sign hanging on El Camino Real at the corner of Del Mar, SC's main street.
Mike produced a booth promoting Bluebirds for the GardenFest. It was one of the most popular attractions. Bluebirds are just now being coaxed to SC by offering proper bird boxes.
I submitted a simple floral arrangement for judging and potential painting by artists. Did not win floral design, but artist, Jean Glass chose my entry to paint! We couldn't resist buying the painting. I have had fun recreating the arrangement and setting it on the table next to the painting. I used curly willow, Texas Gold Columbine and coral and yellow hybiscus in the design.

Spending time at the beach with grandchildren

Aubrey and Garrett spent the afternoon and we took them to the beach at the SC Pier.
They are learning how to play 'tag' with the waves.

Playing outside

We all had fun playing in the fountain, childrens garden, and zooming around the deck.
